Since starting our Abandonment Prevention Project in 2010, we have enrolled over 60 mum and baby pairs meeting our criteria as being at risk of not being able to continue caring for their baby without support.
We have provided a package of financial support, professional advocacy, education and peer support for on average 6 - 12 months until each mum feels confident to graduate from the project.
We have been excited to see how the mums have grown in self esteem and confidence, as well as developing a close bond with their baby and developing in their parenting and budgeting skills.
Each month, each mum and baby pair receives a small amount of financial support as part of this package. This is entirely funded by donations, and so RICF's ability to keep offering this project is dependent on donations.
