Frequently asked Questions - Staff Team
Q. There seem to be a lot of staff compared to the number of boys. Why is this?
A. RICF aims to invest love and time into the children in its care, and to provide a family-like environment at Acasa, preparing the children in our care for family life. We aim to provide a staffing ratio of 2 educators for each group of 8 boys in the day time, and 1 night supervisor to 8 boys at night time. This is because one person alone is not sufficient to provide adequate individual attention for 8 children in the day time, especially when our children range from age 7 to 18. Also, when an emergency arises, or when a child needs to be accompanied to school or to an appointment it is essential that at least one person remains at home with the other children. The shift system means that for each group of 8 boys, 5 educators and 1.5 night supervisors are required.
In addition to educators, we have social workers who are trained to research the children’s home backgrounds and to oversee the family reunification and foster placement programs. We also have the necessary minimum staff for cleaning, cooking, and to maintain security at night time, as well as a skeleton of administrative staff to manage the whole staff team and to oversee finances and welcome visitors. Our foster mothers each care for one child, and form an important part of RICF’s staff team.
Q. Are all of the staff Romanian?
A. Currently all of the staff employed by RICF are Romanian nationals. It is essential that all of the staff working with the children are resident in Romania and speak fluent Romanian.
